Creating the WWE Hall of Fame – 1990s

The WWE Hall of Fame became a humble beginning in the 1990s, which began with the first induction in 1993 to honor Andre. He was the only returnee in his first-ever class, but throughout the decade HOF celebrated multiple icons, reflecting the rise of WWE on its history.

Almost ten years later, WWE decided to revive the Hall of Fame as an annual event on WrestleMania weekend in the 2000s. When it revived in 2004, it celebrated WrestleMania’s 20th anniversary to reestablish itself as the basis of WWE’s legacy and increase its fame.

HOF also expanded its reach by including influential women such as Trish Stratus and Jacqueline, recognizing pioneer groups like four jockeys and Gen DX.
