The road to the triple threat match at the WWE Women’s World Championships between Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky was complicated at best. The last minute marquee match changes, special guest referee appearances, and more behind-the-scenes brawls than the other matches on the WrestleMania 41 card will not lack bad blood between the two challengers and the current world champion.
How did champion Aiyo Skye find herself third woman in her title defense? How did Ripley force Adam Pierce to give WrestleMania moments, as she is the WWE Women’s World Champion? How did Bel Air go from a hysterical witness to the feud between Naomi and Jade Cargill to a bitter challenger who gets caught up in between the tide of the sky and Ripley’s hostility? This is what happened so far as WrestleMania 41 Night 2 prepares to go to war for the Horizon, Belair, Ripley and Sky.
The removal chamber sets the scene
Ripley, Belair and Sky all have history, the latter collide during Sky’s Damage CTRL Day, but the story begins with Bella’s record-breaking second Elimination Chamber victory. After Bella defeated Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez, Bailey and Alexa Bliss, Bella met with Ripley, the then female world champion. As they stared at Toronto, Sky appeared in the middle of them, her gaze rebelling.
In the next episode of “WWE Raw,” Ripley and Sky were locked for the WWE Women’s World Championship. The match became official just before the elimination chamber. On all accounts, Sky was supposed to have been Ripley’s last obstacle before WrestleMania’s season, and once the champion beat the Challenger it seemed Ripley would step into Las Vegas as the champion. However, Bella’s ringside presence deflected Ripley and used Wi-Naka to win the world title with massive upset. Ripley’s shock turned to anger, and “Eladiactor” began to terrify with rage on Monday night.
After weeks of combat and two contracts…
The following weeks were filled with Ripley’s attempts to regain her WrestleMania spot. Shortly after losing the title, Ripley and Bella broke into an interview between Sky and Michael Cole. A week later, Ripley crashed a signature agreement between Sky and Belair, adding the infamous signature to Pearce’s official match document. Infuriated by Ripley’s misconduct, Pierce admitted the “ammunition version” of the “Eliminator.” A few accidental blows occurred in “-est” and she raised her hand and allowed Sky to maintain her title while disqualifying both opponents. An infuriated Ripley laid out both competitors to end the March 31 episode of “Raw.”
Actions from all three women finally defeated Pierce. He took him to the opening game of the “Raw’s” episode, making Sky’s defense of the WWE Women’s World Championship officially a triple threat. All three competitor signatures on the document are officially set for Vegas with matches of “The -est”, “The Eradicator” and “The Genius of the Sky.”
