Jeff Cobb responds to WWE rumors with a sarcastic tweet

2 Min Read

Jeff Cobb is working on WWE speculations swirling around him, but instead of checking anything, he fires a sarcasm that fans laugh at once and confused.

On April 15th, a day after New Japan Pro Wrestling confirmed that Cobb had left the company, the former Olympian jumped on Twitter to enjoy all his online talks. “Amazing! I’m overwhelmed by the message and support, and my hatred, it’s highly appreciated!” He wrote. “So I just wanted to clear the rumors and allusions. Yes, it’s 100% true that Lucha Underground’s fame monster Matanzaquet actually saw my matches from his cell and stole them to use on the El Rey network.”

He didn’t stop there. Cob has been added, “But don’t worry, I contacted @Stephenpnew’s great lawyer to fix the situation! I would like to thank you for your support in these ordeal times!”

It was obviously a joke, but at the timing of the tweet, people are reading between the lines. Just a few days ago, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Cobb’s exit from NJPW could have been expanded to allow WWE’s debut. Meltzer said, “My estimation is that WWE wanted him on Sunday or Monday.”

Cobb and Callum Newman won the IWGP tag team title on April 5th, but with Cobb currently leaving, NJPW has the belt open. And fans speculate that Cobb will be the surprising answer as Randy Orton left without a WrestleMania 41 Night Two opponent.

One thing is clear whether Cobb will appear in WWE this weekend. He continues to speak the internet, even through Lucha Underground Jokes.
