WWE’s Naomi praised AEW Stars Mercedes Moné and Athena for their outstanding performances following this week’s match in a historic episode of AEW Dynamite.
This episode surpassed WCW Nitro as the longest-running primetime wrestling show in TNT history, marking a dynamite milestone. Monet and Athena kicked off the night in a semi-final clash that was famous for the Women’s Owen Heart Cup tournament.
After the match, Naomi, who was villained on WWE programming and social media, praised both contestants and took a little time to give them a “flower.”
The praise highlights the connection she shares with Monet, formerly known as Sasha Banks. The two are WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and left the company together in 2022.
The match was notable for Monet and Athena’s first AEW singles contest, as well as Athena’s first appearance in Dynamite since October 2022. Monet secured the victory and handed Athena his first singles loss after joining AEW. The victory will allow Monet to advance to the tournament finals in a double or a notable on May 25th, facing Jamie Heighter or Chris Starlander.
