Tonight’s AEW Dynamite, airing on April 16, 2025, promises an action-packed nightlife at MGM Music Hall in Fenway, Boston, Massachusetts. In the Spring Breakthrough Show, AEW World Trio champions Death Rider (AEW World Champions John Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Utah) will defend the title against OPPS (Samoa Joe, “Cold Handsome Devil” Hook, “Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata). Additionally, the AEW World Tag team defends The Hurt Syndicate (“The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley and “The Standard of Excellence” Shelton Benjamin) defends the title against the Gate of Suffering (Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun).

AEW Dynamite Results (4/16/2025): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens with Excalibur and Tony Schiavone welcoming us and running through the cards for tonight’s dynamite.
Excalibur lets us know that Death Rider attacked the hook before Dynamite and sent it to the hospital, and that he is currently out of the World Trio title match. It is also said that Samoa Joe and Shibata Katsuyori will fight for hell and high waters. Excalibur says Taz was with his son, and Tony Ciaborne says it was a rebellious attack and Hope Hook is in action soon.
Mercedes Monet then heads into the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Athena.
Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Semi-final match: AEW TBS Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Monet vs. ROH World Women’s Champion “The Fallen Goddess” Athena
The match begins with both women locking up. Both women then go up the entrance ramp and verbally confront each other. Monet leaves the ramp down the ramp and beyond Athena’s waist key, leaving him trapped as he reenter the ring. Monet and Athena then continue to lock each other with the submissions hugging, but Monet attacks Meteora with Athena on the corner. Monet then closes the company with Athena’s crossface.
Athena then appears to hit Monet’s Pilled River. Monet then escapes, reverses it into a mass of Athena’s lungs and tracks it down with a tornado DDT. Monet then attacks three Amigos with Athena, but Athena attacks a series of Powerbombs with Monet. Monet then crashes Athena out of the ring, both women brawl in a ring apron, and Athena bumps into Scoop Pouse Ram with Monet.
Athena then locks onto Monet’s crossface, but Monet causes Athena to crash into the outer barricade. Athena then dropkicks Monet into the barricade, sending her back inside the ring, setting up an O-face. Monet then counters to the roll-up for victory.

After the match, Monet spotted Tonistorm and Luther praised them in the balcony section of the arena.
He then heads back and sees Renee Puckett chatting with “Hangman” Adam Page. The young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada approach the page and tell him that they think they can recruit Death Riders on their side. Okada asks him why he’s so angry and tells him to smile more. After Hangman gets tired of him and leaves, Okada calls him ab***h. Hangman then charges, but Okada tells him to smile, and Page rolls his eyes and leaves.
The Boston Bruins’ Tuukka Rask will be on stage in the NHL Stanley Cup.
Hangman Page will face a wild card in the Owen Hart Foundation’s men’s tournament quarterfinal match, so they head into the ring for the next match in the evening. Josh Alexander then proceeds towards the ring.
Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Quarter Final Match: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. “Walking Weapon” Joshu Alexander
The match begins with both men locking and exchanging forearms. Page then hits Alexander with a blowjob slam, hitting his forearm rolling over him, then nailing his mouth over him. The page then turns Alexander over in the clothesline. Both men are wobbling in ring aprons, but the page sends Alexander crashing into it with a back drop. Page then hits the Moonsaw from Alexander’s top rope, causing Alexander to hit the mat with his sit-out power bomb to find the pin. Alexander is then kicked out.
Alexander then crashes the page from the shoulder to the mat and cinches with the page’s ankle lock. Page then climbs onto the bottom rope, escapes, chases it with dead eyes, seeking pins. Alexander then kicks out and hits a crossbody through the bottom rope and out of the ring. Alexander then sends the page back inside, then closes the on-page of the Ankle Lock once more. Page then rolls up Alexander to win.

After the match, Kyle Fletcher and Don Charis proceed towards the ring. Fletcher and Page brawl at the entrance lamp as Charis whispers something to Alexander. Page then sets up for the backshot lariat, but Alexander attacks him from behind and heads backwards. Fletcher then crashes the page to the mat with a brainbuster.
He then heads back with his patriarchy. Nick Wayne talks about the fall of patriarchy without his father’s appearance. Christian Cage then appears and says Nick Wayne knows why he carried out his contract. Wayne says he thinks he didn’t stick to the plan because he couldn’t stand the idea that Coop would become a world champion before him. Christian says that it is a hypothetical and makes ** out of him. Christian says he was impressed by the fire that Nick Wayne had shown recently, and he said he took it over to himself to source a spot for him in the NJPW battle in the Super Junior Tournament. Christian says Wayne is playing a match against the Commander in the ROH World TV title, where he needs to win on his own in the clash on Thursday. Christian then leaves with Kip and tells Wayne to follow.
Next, we’ll put together the recent heel turns into a video package with FTR. Tony Schiavone says they were suspended for a week and docked a weekly salary for their actions.
The Gate of Suffering then advances towards the ring for the next match of the night, followed by a wounded syndicate.
AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Hurt Syndicate (“The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley and “The Standard of Excellence” Shelton Benjamin) vs. The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun)
The match begins with Toa Liona attacking Shelton Benjamin from behind. Laiona then chops Benjamin. Benjamin then hits DDT with Liona and tags with Bishop Coun. Kaun and Liona then doubled the team with Benjamin on the corner, but Benjamin hits the flatliner with the couns and follows it with a suppression.
Liona then tags Benjamin and delivers some elbows. Laiona then chases it with a Samoa drop and delivers some clothesline loans to Lashley on the corner, but Lashley is carved into Liona’s heartlock. Kaun then comes to Liona’s assistance, but Liona causes Lashley to crash into a barricade. Kaun then dropkicks Benjamin to the corner, but Benjamin responds with some of Kaun’s German suppressions. Lashley then spears Liona outwards and Benjamin tages him with Lashley. Lashley then spears at Coun for victory.

After the match, MJF goes his way and makes his argument again as to why he needs to be in the Heart Syndicate. MJF says he will not bring his own talent to the group, but other talents too. Several women then go to the ring and join MJF and The Hurt Syndicate, and Benjamin says they need a little more time to show that they want an MJF watch. MJF agrees to give him that as long as he agrees to have him put in the wounded syndicate, but Benjamin decides not to do so yet. MJF gives Benjamin a clock and tells Lashley that he is known for getting what he wants, despite him saying no as a token of goodwill. The MVP then calms Lashley down and heads to her back with the woman.
Then head backwards. There, the injured syndicate is being interviewed. Lashley tells the MVP that he doesn’t trust MJF. The MVP explains that he understands that MJF is an annoying thing, but business-wise, you can use him to get what you want. Lashley says MJF will hurt him. They then call for the woman and leave with them.
The Osprey then heads into the ring for the next match in the evening, and the Takeshita River continues.
Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semi-final match: The “Alpha” by Don Karis Family Konosuke Takeshita vs. “Air Assassin”
The match begins with both men feeling each other and locking up. Ospreay then hits Takeshita’s chop and chases it with a kick in his face and a hari canrana. Takeshita then hits a flying clothesline on Ospreay, causing him to crash into the mat with F5, keeping him out of the way. Takechita then flies over the top rope and lands on the Osprey on the outside.
Ospreay then hits a springboard flip kick at Takeshita, jumping out of the top rope and nailing him with a forearm strike. Takeshita then nails Osprey with a clothesline and follows it with a suppression. Ospreay then takes an airborne shock with Takeshita from the center rope, chases it with an OS cutter on the front door lamp and a Phoenix splash back into the ring. Ospreay then appears to hit another OS cutter, but Takeshita avoids it. Ospreay then attacks the OS cutter for the second time with Takeshita, but Takeshita rolls in Ospreay’s German suppression and pins him. Ospreay then kicks out.
Ospreay then nails Takeshita with some boots, followed it with a trio of super kicks, and sets up for the hidden blade. Takeshita then collapses and the judge checks him, but Takeshita recovers Osprey with his forearm and nails him. Takeshita then follows it with a blue lightning bomb and goes to Pin, but Osprey kicks out.
OSPREAY then sets up the OS cutter, but Takeshita avoids it. Ospreay then nails him with a hidden blade, causing him to crash into the mat with his belly, sending a Piledriver and a German suppression onto his back. Takeshita then pounds the elbow with an Osprey, and both men hit the teeter with the ropes, before Taketa hits Osprey’s Takeshita line from the top rope. Then ospreay. He responds with a hidden blade and goes to the pin, but Takeshita kicks out. Ospreay then hits Styles Clash on Takeshita and pins him once more, but Takeshita kicks out. Ospreay then attacks the Stormbreaker with Takeshita to win.
The winner of the Owen Hart Foundation’s men’s tournament semi-final match “The Aerial Assassin” will be OSPREAY!
After the match, Ospreay celebrates the victory and awaits the winner of Kyle Fletcher vs. Hangman Page in the other semi-finals.
The Death Rider then heads to the ring for the night’s main event, followed by OPPS and Powerhouse Hobbs.
AEW World Trios Championship Match: Death Rider (AEW World Champions Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta) vs. OPPS (Samoa Joe and “The Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata) and Powerhouse Hobbs
The match begins with all six men fighting each other. Hobbs then delivers some clotheslines to Wheeler Utah in the corner, but John Moxley nails Hobbs from behind. Samoa Joe then tags in and delivers her right hand to Uta, tagging her with a wank dog. Shibata then delivers some chops to Utah and knocks Moxley from the apron. Claudio Castagnoli then causes Shibata to crash into the barricade. Moxley then tagged Shibata to wear and tagged it with Castagnoli. Castagnoli then nails the shells with western paper.
Shafir then hits Hobbs’ chop block. Castagnoli then impacts with the hull, but Shibata takes several strikes on Castagnoli. Utah and Joe then tagged in, and Joe hit an atomic drop in Utah. Joe then slams Senton and Pouse Rum in Utah as Moxley grabs a chair from under the ring.
Willow Nightingale then proceeds towards her ring and grabs a chair from him. Castagnoli then attacks the pop-up uppercut with Joe, but Utah nails him with a spinebuster. Joe then nails Moxley with a clothesline, but the young Bucks heads to ringside and Matt Jackson grabs his own chair. Swerve Strickland grabs it from him, stomps Swellve from the barricade of the young Bucks, and continues to brawl with them. Shibata then puts Castagnoli to sleep on the lamp at the entrance, kicking him to the chest, and Hobbs crashes on the announcement desk. Shafir then smacks Hobbs on her chair, but Nightingale runs through her in the clothesline. Moxley then appears to hit the death rider with Joe, but Joe cinches with Moxley and Moxley’s coquina clutch.

After the match, several members of the AEW roster will take part in the ring’s OPPS, celebrating the victory with champagne as the show approaches its end.
