The latest move to expand WWE’s global influence is official. Triple H is already celebrating the partnership with one of AAA’s brightest stars.
During the countdown to the WrestleMania 41 show, Michael Cole announced that WWE has acquired the legendary Mexican Al Cha Libre Promotion AAA. The agreement was made in collaboration with Mexico-based holding company Fillip. Triple H, AAA General Manager Dorian Peña, and representatives from Fillip attended the live announcement.
Dorian Peña said in a reflection of the moment. “This is the beginning of a new chapter in the Lucha Libre story. My uncle, father, and my mother – they’ve been running AAA for almost 33 years. Finally, to work with WWE, we told Lucador that we are proud.”
Shortly after the announcement aired, Triple H posted on Instagram along with Hijo Del Vikingo. In the caption, Triple H shared his excitement about the partnership.
“A partnership that benefits the whole world of sports entertainment. @luchalibreaaaa was a cultural flagship in Mexico and home to many @WWE superstars. We would also like to thank Patrick Dooley & Kevin Rohnke, Patrick Dooley & Kevin Rohnke, for making this possible. The announcement comes just in front of the NXT Worlds Collide, which will be held at the KIA Forum in Inglewood, California on June 7th. This will now include AAA talent on the card.
