Bloodsport pulled the talent booked to make space for the WWE star

Josh Burnett’s Bloodsport may have taken a strong move on WrestleMania weekend, but behind the scenes it caused real heat just as much as fans and wrestlers.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, several talents originally booked for the Las Vegas event were pulled to create a room for the WWE Superstar. Meltzer explained.

One of the things that were pulled was British wrestler Loonixon. He released the news that he was cut due to an overloaded match card. He was given a last minute spot to Joey Janella’s Clusterf**k Battle Royale instead.

WWE talent dominated the show this year, appearing in seven of 10 games. This is the best ever at a Bloodsport event. Shayna Baszler, Pete Dunne, Karrion Kross, Natalya, Charlie Dempsey and Tavion Heights all won. Karmen Petrovic was the only person. NJPW’s Gabe Kidd closed the show by defeating Josh Barnett himself in the main event.

Bloodsport is known for its nonsense style, but the move felt like a slap for the indie loyalists who helped build the brand.
