Booker T denies he was sleeping during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony

Booker T finally broke the silence about the Viral Hall of Fame meme. He performed live at WWE NXT.

A few days after fans allegedly fell asleep during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Booker gave his side of the story during the opening of the NXT episode on April 22, 2025. Vic Joseph wasted no time, he said, “Booker T, you were asleep when you were last here (in the Hall of Fame).”

Without missing the beat, Booker fought back: “I was praying.”

After the photos surfaced on April 20th, the internet ran jokingly, with WWE legends closing their eyes and closing during their natural disaster-guided speech. Fans cracked claiming he died midway through. Some people took a shot and called it “rude” to the family of Fred Ottoman and the late John Tenta. Others turned it into a meme frenzy.

Booker initially responded in silence by posting unedited photos to Twitter without a caption. That move alone would have praised him for owning him or doubled his jokes. One user tweeted, “You had a wonderful sleep, a legend?” While another is posted, “Red Bull and Booker T this morning.”

Before that, he tried to redirect attention to NXT Stand & Deliver, Tweeting. “The future of WWE is on display at #NxtStandandDeliver! The 2025 card is a straight fire… I’m looking at it – I’m not waiting!” However, it only added fuel to the fire, and fans quickly clowned him again.

Now, the ironic applause of NXT’s Booker T may be the last word on the subject. One thing is clear whether you believe he is praying or taking a nap. He’s not sweating memes at all.
