CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. WWE WrestleMania 41 Reign of Rome

3 Min Read

Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Seth Rollins are set at night 1 for WrestleMania 41 headlines, and there’s no shortage of stories heading towards marquee matchups, from Paul Heyman’s exchange to mentions of Rollins and the Ruler’s past to governing as a shield. As the road to WrestleMania rapidly approaches its Las Vegas destination, there is this triple threat story to date!

After a historic run as an indisputable WWE Universal Champion, Reigns entered the Royal Rumble for the first time in five years, hoping to last longer than the other 29 men to re-enter the world championship scene. He achieved a favorable position as one of the last six participants, but Rollins’ arrival marked the beginning of the end of Rumble’s ambitions of Reign.

The “original tribe chief” attempts to eliminate Rollins with a clothesline, but the “architect” latches to his old rival, both wobbling on top ropes. Here, an opportunistic punk leaned the rule and spilled both men outwards to gain double exclusion. However, Punk quickly joined the outside after an even more opportunistic Logan Paul eliminated him. Rollins first wields the ruler and then enters a physical argument with a punk on the outside. Once the dust between Rollins and Punk settled, Rollins stomped down the steel steps and ruled.

Paul Heyman’s favor puts blood feud in the main event

Rollins and Punk continue their feud after recovery, and in the Elimination Chamber they do not rule anywhere after meeting Steel in Indianapolis. Rollins and Punk were expected to take over the Steel Cage match on the March 10 episode of “WWE Raw,” but Madison Square Garden instead returned home, furious at the ruler who destroyed both men before resigning.

As their feud continued, he declared Punk’s “best friend” and ruled the infamous “sage” – folded as his loyalty was tested. Heyman sat between Punk and Reign during the contract signing segment that formalised Punk’s first WrestleMania main event, and told the chief of his tribe that, unfortunately, Punk still had a favor. On the April 4th episode of “Smack Down,” Punk’s cash earned him his favor, and in a shocking event, Punk demanded that Heyman be in his corner – demanded that he come to WrestleMania 41.

WrestleMania 41 seems like a game for every guy. Rollins and Reigns couldn’t do the best punk individually, as Punk is apt to remind others and Heyman remains the wild card in the match. This feud, which Rollins calls “a battle for the soul of WWE,” is something to watch WrestleMania’s weekend approaching a great deal.
