Gale Kim’s departure from TNA has sparked emotion throughout the wrestling world, but her legacy as a cornerstone of the knockout division remains firmly intact. TNA co-founder Jeff Jarrett recently shed new light on how Kim worked instrumental Kim in creating a platform for women in the company, even if leadership wasn’t ready to commit.
Kim pushed towards the women’s department when no one else was there
In a recent episode of his My World Podcast, Jarrett revealed that Kim is not a top performer, but the driving force behind the birth of TNA’s women’s division.
“She was really pushing the women’s division back then,” Jarrett said. “And I gave it a pushback multiple times. “Hey, if we’re going to do that, we’re going to make sure we give it the right time.”
Jarrett highlighted the logistical challenges of launching a women’s division in the early days of TNA, noting that the roster is not deep enough. But Kim insisted.
“We were a little, but she was the first because I was the most wanted in America and me,” he explained. “She pushed and pushed, but she was right. We needed it.
Star performers who have redefine their roles
Kim didn’t just defend change – she made it a reality. Jarrett praised her athleticism and storytelling abilities.
“She jumped off the top and did Hurricane Lana… her athleticism in the early days jumped out of the page.”
More importantly, she has mastered the art of being a believable babyface. Jarrett is unusual for wrestling women.
“It can be difficult for women to be that. You know a white babyface, as we call it business. You still need to have an edge… She was very, very, very, very skilled.
