Top AEW Stars were on the list to join WWE Faction

The Top AEW Champion was on the list of the nominees for the Fion WWE star, which first debuted on television in August 2022.

While the injury to Asuka and Kairi Sane has reduced the collective presence on television, Ctrl damage has been a mainstay in the women’s division since it first formed in Summerslam 2022.

Originally a trio of Bailey, Dakotaka Kai and Iyo Sky, the group eventually expanded their ranks with Sone and Asuka, but Bailey was quickly kicked out of the group after winning the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble.

Talking Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Bailey shared her original vision for Ctrl’s damage, revealing that Raquel Rodriguez, Alba Fyre and even AEW’s world women’s champion Toni Storm have in mind that they could potentially join the ranks of the group.

Bailey explained:

“I had the whole thing [plan]5 of us, my pitch in the damage CTRL. I also had Raquel. I also had Albafir. I had many other girls in mind too. There was a Tonistorm. I wanted Tonistorm.

“But when I actually sat on my PC and filmed it was Raquel and Alba and all five of us. I had a reason to want them. Raquel was obviously our muscles, but she was teaming up with Dakota at the time. But in my opinion, there were two tag teams and Iyo was my champion. She was planning to become a champion.

“I just want to do everything in wrestling. That’s how I always thought of it. I want to be a bad guy. I want to be a good guy. I want to be a faction. I want to be a tag team. I want to be a single wrestler. I want to be a romantic love angle one day.

“In this crazy world, you can try different paths and do as much as you can and avoid working with as many people as possible, so you want to be able to do everything. You just want to do it.”

Asuka has been taking off the TV with a knee injury since the May 2024 rebound, but Sane has dealt with arm injuries that have been hindering her from action for the first time since December.

Bailey has recently appeared in the news after being replaced by Becky Lynch as Lila Valkyria’s partner in the women’s tag team championship match at WrestleMania 41.
