Despite his career spanning over 20 years, Shelton Benjamin appeared in Chris Van Vriette’s “Insights” to reveal that his world championship aspirations remain very alive in AEW.
When asked if he could see him win the world title in AEW, Benjamin emphasized:
“Well, I’m going to say yes. Well, I definitely won the world title. If you’re watching my performance, I’m not just playing like someone you know who wants to retire right away in the sunset.
While acknowledging that he was previously the world champion of WWC promotion in Puerto Rico, Benjamin has made it clear that it is to achieve the pinnacle of success in one of the leading wrestling companies.
“Being a world champion in a well-known company is definitely at the top of that list. Now I was the world champion at WWC Puerto Rico, but I don’t know if I want to count it.” After the audience insisted that they would count it, Benjamin added:
Throughout his career, Benjamin has been widely regarded as one of the most naturally talented athletes in wrestling and performers in the ring. This reputation was strengthened during the interview when Chris Van Vriette mentioned,
“You haven’t lost a step. None of you have lost a step,” he said, noting the impressive physical condition that all three injured syndicate members maintain despite their veteran status.
Bobby Lashley said later in the interview that he even paid for his steady ultimate compliment.
“Shelton Benjamin has never played a bad match,” highlights Benjamin’s consistent excellence, who defined his career.
Benjamin’s pursuit of the World Championships represents an increasingly common narrative in modern wrestling. Veteran performers can achieve major career milestones later in their careers, especially in AEW, where several wrestlers from their 40s win championships.
Hurt Syndicate’s current focus remains on their tag team championship run, but the MVP has confirmed that single gold is in their future:
“We are ready to hold these tag team titles and take the next level until we’ve finished it until we decide it’s OK and come to the singles tag team championship.
For Benjamin, that opportunity to ultimately win a world championship with a massive promotion serves as the finest achievement of an already illustrious career.
