Cody Rhodes said he was about to issue a “receipt” to Scott in return after suffering black eyes and heartbeat in the hands of WWE Elimination Chamber rapper Travis Scott. However, when given the opportunity to do so at WrestleMania 41, Rhodes chose to hit the wrestling moves, especially Scott who interferes with his Crossroads.
The decision mixed reactions among the “bust open radio” crew, causing WWE Hall of Fame bully Ray to infuriate feelings, and made Nick Nemes and Tommy Dreamer feel overwhelmed. At the same time, Nemeth and Dreamer theorized possible reasons for why Rhodes refrained from his “receipt.”
“There was something there, and it was a bit anti-climax for so many different people, but I went, oh, I wanted to see [the receipt]”Nemes said, it was a very good smack for the head, and he hit the wrestling moves and I went, ‘Oh, that’s cool’ and it looked great.
“Maybe it’s a responsibility, an insurance method to do it, and play it safely, maybe they can’t hurt our guys, so play it safely. [Scott] I have music to make. But I would have wanted to have them set up something [Rhodes] Slap hell [Scott]maybe slap him or knock him out on his back [fist].
Tommy Dreamer says Rhodes was able to hit Crossroads after he issued the receipt
When sought his thoughts on the subject, Dreamer pointed out that he shared the same philosophy as Nemes. He also provided an alternative way that allowed Rhodes to incorporate his recall while still remaining faithful to his signature move set.
“You slapped his crap as a receipt, then you hit your finish as an exclamation point as a babyface,” Dreamer said. “I was there many times too. I was with his father. [Dusty Rhodes] When I jumped on a soccer player [in ECW]and it was in Louisiana. If you want to talk about how bad the two New Orleans saints, saints are, we actually had saints as heels and Tommy Dreamer and Dusty Rhodes.
“They were side by side with Steve Corino and a young cookie monster named Rhino,” Dreamer continued. [went] Jabs, jabs, jabs, elbows, guys lying there, so that’s the receipt they put us on. But then Dusty hit his finish and when he dropped it, the place became Uesh. ”
Scott’s interference was two of the nights at WrestleMania 41, especially in the uncontroversial WWE Championship match between Rhodes and John Cena. Scott pulled the referee out of the ring as Rhodes laid out Cena to cover him with Crossroads. Upon entering the ring, Scott ate Crossroads himself. With the referee still falling outside at this point, Cena shifted momentum to his favor by nailing Rhodes with a low blow and championship belt.
