Aee’s Brian Cage reportedly suffers more serious injuries than expected

Earlier this month, murder machines Brian Cage and Lance Archer were expected to challenge the title of the AEW Tag Team of the AEW Dynasty. However, after it is revealed that Cage tore his quad at an independent wrestling show, Learning Tree will instead fail to compete for the 41 year old and instead get a championship opportunity. Dave Meltzer originally broke the news about the torn cage quad, and in his recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he noted that the injury was more serious than initially expected.

First, Meltzer outlined that torn quad injuries usually take a year to heal, but the cage promises to return to a short period of time. That said, the AEW star had already dealt with foot problems for several months, but he didn’t realize how serious the injury had become. During the indie show, Meltzer explained that Cage went to the Spinebuster in a match against Chris Masters, but his left foot was buckled on the first pickup, allowing him to quickly feel tears. The “machine” later explained that the injury felt like it was ripping in half.

Meltzer also revealed that Cage is expected to survive a foot injury up to all distances in Texas and then schedule time to recover, but he appears to be likely lacking in action for the rest of 2025.
