Gunther discusses the “strange” experience working under Vince McMahon in WWE

2 Min Read

Former world heavyweight champion Gunther made his debut on WWE’s main roster in April 2022, following WrestleMania 38. Meanwhile, “The Ring General” had a temporary opportunity to work with McMahon, but he found more success with “WWE Smackdown” especially when Triple H took over as the head of creative, especially after winning the InterContinental Championship. Gunther celebrated the main roster for three years, and in a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, he reflected on his performance under McMahon and why he prefers to work at Triple H instead.

“I was doing four months or something under Vince, and it was a strange work experience… the direction was very confused. It was difficult to understand what was expected of me. Gunther said, “At the end of the day, everything came for me. I was often lucky in my career in terms of timing. I was in the right place very often, but yeah, overall I’m a 100% hunter guy.”

Gunther admits that he struggles to invest in creative plans when he doesn’t understand or agree with them, and that lack of direction can quickly motivate him. He said that while his complaints about McMahon were not so much reached, he often felt confused within his first few months on the main roster.
