NJPW’s “NXT Weekend” tweet sparks WWE speculation

The rock may have started something bigger. And one NJPW tweet only poured more fuel into the fire.

On April 27th, NJPW Global promoted the Wrestling Dontaku event with a strange message. “Wrestling Don Taku will be appearing on the weekend! May 4th, the second day!

The wording quickly pops out. Instead of “next weekend,” they wrote “NXT Weekend.” A replies filled with comments like “The most unfortunate typo LOL” and “You say nxt” While others are joking, “The double take I had when I read this.” Some posted a now-all-known photo of Iwa wearing a new Japanese professional wrestling shirt earlier this month.

Rock’s NJPW shirt casually dropped on an Instagram video, and after playing with Rubik’s Cube, fans were talking. “Even though it was slightly intellectually threatened, I continue to keep my faith alive.” There is no context. No explanation.

Now, after WrestleMania 41 was in the book, I find the timing much more difficult to ignore. The relationship between WWE and international promotion is a growing topic behind the scenes, and Locke’s new position as a major power player within TKO only adds more layers to the conversation.

Whether the NJPW post is a simple mistake or something, fans are treating it like a crumb.
