A notable title change took place on Friday’s WWE Smackdown, when Zelina Vega left as the US champion.
On the show, Vega won the title over Chelsea Green. This is Vega’s first single title victory in WWE career.
Vega defeated Green in two consecutive titleless matches at Smackdown in the weeks leading up to the championship match. These victories established Vega as a reliable challenger for Green’s newly won title.
One of Vega’s non-title wins over Green came under controversial circumstances. Greene had no match at WrestleMania 41 despite being a female American champion.
Green won the first WWE Women’s US Championship on December 14th, 2024. She defeated the sewing machine in the tournament final at main event XXXVII on Saturday night.
