Brian Danielson revealed serious health issues that made many believe his ring career was over. I’ll talk to you Everyday StarDanielson was candid about how physical fee wrestling took away his body after a 25-year career.
“I don’t want to say I called it a day…but you know it’s mostly calling it a day.”
Danielson has not wrestled since the Wrestling Ream event in October, but his health issues go back much further than that. The former world champion revealed that he continued severe neck injuries in a match against Will Osprey in AEW’s dynasty pay-per-view.
“I don’t say health in a similar sense… I can’t solve the methods that used to be successful… my therapist literally won’t forgive me… I just can’t hold a heavy dumbbell.”
Danielson appears to be on duty despite his distance from the competition. American Dragon has played multiple roles behind the scenes and is pleased that his position on the Disciplinary Committee is something he rarely needs to meet.
“I’m like an AEW consultant now… I’m part of the Disciplinary Committee…it’s pretty much none.”
Memories of Wembley
Danielson’s pinnacle of AEW tenure was London 2024, winning the AEW world title for Swerve Strickland. In an interview, Danielson warmly reflected on the arrival of Wembley Stadium as a career highlight.
“It was incredible… I had my kids out there, my wife, they were incredible to be part of it.”
Today, it remains unclear whether Danielson’s family, or wrestling fans around the world, will see him compete in the ring again. Nevertheless, the legacy Danielson was created in wrestling is undeniable and extraordinary.
