After losing the IWGP Women’s Championship to Syuri last weekend, Stardom Star Mayu Iwatani revealed that she is leaving the promotion. The loss on April 27 showed Iwata played his final match at Stardom 14 years later at the company. She is the 735-day IWGP women’s champion and is a young championship record. According to Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Iwatani has only two options if she wants to come to the US to wrestletter.

“Mayuwatani, obviously it’ll be aew or wwe, and we’re probably going to know [soon]I don’t think she’s retired… She dropped her IWGP title on the show today and announced that she’ll be effective soon,” explained Meltzer. [will sign her]. WWE has been chasing her for years, and perhaps [Iyo Sky] What he does very well was probably encouraged her to go. ”

According to Meltzer, WWE is about to sign Sky, Iwatani and Kairi Sane “a few years ago]but the company has since signed Sky and Sane. Sky held the women’s world championships at WrestleMania 41, beating Bianca Belair and Lea Ripley of Nevada’s Allegianto Stadium. If Iwatani joins WWE, she will be the second former IWGP women’s champion on the roster. Kairi Sane was the first champion after her 2021 release from WWE, but in 2023 she rejoined the company where she remains.

Iwatani is not the only stardom star as Tam Nakano is also scheduled to retire after her own defeat on the 27th.
