Stone Cold Steve Austin shared the idea that Vince McMahon is no longer affiliated with WWE. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwanishaw, he spoke of past conversations and questioned McMahon’s desire to open the company.
Austin was asked if he thought he would see a time when McMahon had no connection to WWE while still alive.
“That seems strange, but I know, when they sold the company to TKO, you know, it’s like, it’s like, it’s like, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s
He then recalled how he advised McMahon on publishing WWE years ago, and was confused by the chairman’s reasoning.
“So I remember talking to Vince 100 years ago when he wanted to publish the company. And I told him, I said… I said… I said, why do you want to publish? [to] It will become more legal. I, man, what the hell was it? Will it be more legal? He owned the whole damn thing. So I never understood it from the beginning, you know. ”
Despite past differences, Austin spoke positively about his time working for McMahon and WWE.
“And I love working with Vince…and I have had an incredible amount of time working with WWE. We haven’t always seen us look at everything, but you gave him all my blood, sweat, tears and they gave me so much opportunity… We had a great time together.”
Austin ended with a focus on the changing leadership and the company’s current positive trajectory.
“But you know that the times are gone and something new has begun… it starts and it seems to be working.”
