Aee’s Adam Copeland initially didn’t want to participate in this historic WWE match, now a main player

Early in his WWE career, Adam Copeland, officially known as Edge, made his name in the ladder, and TLC matched up with his tag team partner Christian. Most famously, “Rated-R Superstar” competed in the classic TLC three-way match at WrestleMania 17, fighting the Hardy Boys in countless ladder matches, but after starting to succeed as a singles competitor, Copeland didn’t want to be near the ladder. Prior to the Bank’s first money match in 2005, the AEW star was not interested in the contest.

“I said that.” That ladder felt like a crutch and it definitely had nothing for me so chucked me in the ladder match. I feel like Christians put it in. It’s the main event. ” Copeland told ITR Wrestling.

Despite feeling that the bank’s match was a relegation, Copeland quickly realized that he approached the main event scene by winning the briefcase, but also revealed a secondary reason he wanted to avoid a ladder match in the future.

“I didn’t realize that bank money would be a springboard for it, so I had to talk to it. I’m glad that it was. And the truth is, I’m tired of bumping through the ladder, and it hurts, so there’s no good way to do it.”
