One of Shelton Benjamin’s final premium live event appearances at WWE came at the 2020 Royal Rumble. He had a brief reunion with Brock Lesnar, a former Minnesotarekking crew tag team partner. Benjamin agreed to give Lesnar aid in the match, but Lesnar thought about it better and removed his longtime friend from the match. The current AEW Tag Team Champion looked into how his interaction with Lesnar emerged during a special appearance on former WWE superstar Maven’s YouTube channel.

Despite being eliminated from the Rumble match, Benjamin got his own reward from Vince McMahon over a week later. “I just signed a new deal with WWE. He, Vince, I think I went back a bit and rewatched. Maybe a week or so later, he rewatched Rumble. Because of this place, Vince was enjoying it right away.
