Steel Cage World Title Match Headline Beach Break

The moment Death Riders ambushed the trio champion, Samoa Joe stepped onto the stage and challenged AEW world champion John Moxley to defend his title in the steel cage with a beach break in Chicago on May 14th. Moxley shook from the post-match brawl – was quickly accepted. The match will be the first singles meeting between the two since Moxley won the championship.

The Owen Heart Cup Final was confirmed with double or notes

Both tournament brackets reached conclusion tonight, completing the cards for the annual Owen Heart Cup Finals held on May 25th in Double or Notes.

  • Men’s Final – “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Will Osprey
  • Page punched the ticket by beating Kyle Fletcher in the backshot lariat, setting up his first single showdown with Ospreay.
  • Women’s Finals – Mercedes Monet vs. Jamie Hater
  • The bracket was wrapped up last week, but the attacks between Toni Storm, the women’s world champion after Mercedes Monet’s match, and Haiter’s surprise assault on Monet rekindled hostility. The commentary confirmed that the winner will win a future championship opportunity.

Confusion in the women’s division

Toni Storm survived the hard non-title test of Yamashitamiya Yu in Japan, but her celebration was shortened when Mercedes Monet stood up to her in the aisle. Before Moné published the formal assignment, Jamie Hayter blinded the CEO and turned the title’s photo into a three-way collision course. Storm will face Hater ally Lady Frost in the Eliminator match in this Saturday’s clash.

Ultimately for Scarred Syndicates to MJF

In a tense behind the scenes segment, Bobby Lashley told MJF that he had been tearing for a long time to the Heart Syndicate in “The Trials of Fire” next week. MJF will need to “prove himself in the blood” with dynamite on May 7th. Failure means the invitation is off the table. Your opponent and regulations will be made public live.

Other important outcomes and angles

  • Eight All-Star tags: Okada Kazuchika and the Young Bucks joined Ricochett and defeated Kenny Omega, Leon Slater, Mike Bailey and Mark Briscoe. Okada stole Briscoe’s pin and locked his eyes with Omega. This is a clear signal that their rivalry is over.
  • Roh World Television Championship: Nick Wayne faced Jay Lethal after a fiercely fighting house call and marked his first successful defense since catching the belt.
  • OPPS vs. Titus/Comarot/Hawkins: The champion rolled, but was attacked after the match, escalating the bad blood of the faction.

from now on

With the world title locked inside the cage and both Owen Heart Cup finals set on stone, it doesn’t look like double or anything crystal clear in AEW, but it’s barely calm. Next week we’ll reveal whether MJF can survive the wounded syndicate gauntlet and whether Toni Storm can navigate the division that comes to her from two directions. One thing is certain after tonight’s Norfolk fireworks. May will be a brutal and inevitable month on the road to Las Vegas. ???????????????????????
