Dakota Kai responded after being named to the list of WWE stars released on May 2, 2025.
Kai is one of five major roster talents that have been let go at the time of this writing.
Kai, Shayna Baszler, Braun Strowman, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance are all released.
In response to the news, Kai tweeted a CJ GIF from GTA San Andreas at the start of the game, saying:
“Yeah, I’ll go here again.”
Kai has been with WWE since late 2016 after starting his Australian and Japan career, and via the NXT system he began his main roster with CTRL damage in Summerslam 2022.
She became a two-time NXT women’s tag team champion alongside Raquel Rodriguez and a two-time WWE women’s tag team champion with Ctrl teammate Iyo Sky.
Kai’s boyfriend NXT star Eddy Thorpe, formerly known as Karl Fredericks, is also one of the names released by the company today.
