MJF is literally preparing to tee off in Hollywood. The AEW star is one of four actors who play Adam Sandler’s son Happy Gilmore 2The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 cult classic. In upcoming Netflix films, Sandler will return as a former hockey player on the golf swing. For now, he is a dad with a confused team of grown-up sons.
MJF played Gordy, joined by Ethan Katkoski as Wayne, Connor Shelley as Terry and Philip Schneider as Bobby. According to new features from AP Newsthe boys in Gilmore were all troublemakers, and the chemistry between the cast was instant.
“I looked like a fool, so they thought I was OK with the rink,” MJF joked about his casting, referring to the film’s title character’s ice hockey roots.
The four actors quickly got together on set during the film’s four months of filming. Shameless Starkat Cosky said, “It was so amazing how fast we reached and how we created our family. It’s really hard to get there.”
MJF reflects and adds emotions, “In between scenes, we liked seeing each other, knowing what we were thinking, and making each other laugh without talking.”
Schneider praises Sandler’s ability to build positive sets and calls it more than just a workplace. “His genius is that he just gets the people he wants to work with and sees what happens. He trusts chemistry.”
