Monday’s “WWE Raw” saw multiple match setups for the backlash. The show included a showdown between former female tag team champion Becky Lynch and female intercontinental champion Laila Valkyria, who faced head-to-head towards the IC title at a premium live event. Lynch talks to the crowd and informs everyone that he has taken Bailey out before WrestleMania 41, explaining that he was furious to see Valkyria match with Bailey while she was away from WWE. Valkyria came out to protect herself, leading to what ECW legend Tommy Dreamer called the “strange conflict” of “bust open after dark.”

When the women were last one-on-one, Valkyria defeated Lynch at the NXT Women’s Championship in the “WWE NXT” Halloween Ha box special in October 2023.
