All elite wrestling fans in the New York City area have a reason to celebrate as major pay-per-view events are heading for the official. Speaking on Iheart Radio’s Josh Martinez and Z100 New York City and 1035 Kiss FM Chicago, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed his promotional plan to bring important PPVs to big Apples within the next 12 months.

Official confirmation and timeline

“You believe we will bring a big pay-per-view back to New York soon and within a year,” Kern said clearly when pressed for planning the city’s company.

The announcement marks a strategic return to one of wrestling’s most passionate markets, with Kern highlighting the importance of New York’s fan base.

“I’m very focused on returning to New York with great events. There are plenty of great arenas and venues in the market, but there are also some of the best markets for wrestling fans in the world.

Multiple venue options under consideration

AEW previously had a successful Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but Khan has shown that multiple venues are being considered in future pay-per-views. The promotion appears to be working to explore a variety of options across the five autonomous boroughs and surrounding areas.

“AEW is back in New York with a big pay-per-view, and I love making TV there too, so be sure to keep an eye on that,” Kern added.

Historic success in New York

Kern’s enthusiasm for the New York market stems from AEW’s previous success in the region, particularly the first Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium in 2021.

“It’s an incredible event, and I’ve had my personal favorite New York memories and I’m doing my first wrestling show at Arthur Ash Stadium.”

He particularly highlighted the opening match between Kenny Omega and Brian Danielson as a great way to kick off what he called “the favourite night he spent in New York.”

What does this mean for AEW’s future?

The commitment to bringing the major pay-per-view back to New York City is in line with AEW’s current momentum. The announcement shows continued expansion and investment in key markets as the promotion experienced what Khan describes in 2025 as “the best TV run ever.”

As AEW continues to increase its presence on streaming platforms like MAX while maintaining its cable TV footprint, the return of major pay-per-views to New York City could mark another important milestone in the evolution of promotion.
