WWE’s Postrest Tourmania Trimming Spree claimed another familiar face. This time, we’ll be featuring former women’s tag team champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. According to Fightful Selectboth superstars were quietly released this week as part of a wave of ongoing talent reduction.
Katana and Kayden have been one of WWE’s most consistent tag teams in recent years. After shattering NXT for several years, the duo finally won the NXT Women’s Tag team title in 2022, holding them for record run. Their chemistry, energy and in-ring style made fans of black and gold brand fan favorites and fixtures.
In 2023 they were called to the main roster, bringing an electric tandem attack to RAW, and ultimately won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from Chelsea Green and Piper Neane in late 2023.
Their release is part of Cut’s growth list, including Brown Strowman and Shayna Baszler. Even recent champions and active performers have shown that they are not immune from the quiet reorganization of WWE under the TKO group.
WWE has not publicly confirmed the news, and as of now, no statement has been made to either Chance or Carter.
Do you think WWE should do more with Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, or was their release inevitable given the state of the tag department? Please let us know in the comments.
