There is persistent discourse among fans about whether AEW has too many titles, but it could potentially make some of the new titles in the favor of the new title.
Each one has a unique spin and a true purpose to bring something special to AEW, and there is an absolute way for new titles to create great stories and matches for the future.
Below are five new AEW Championships Tony Kahn can introduce in 2025:
5. AEW Welterweight Championship
While the heavyweight division certainly has plenty of talent and fan interest, AEW also has a stack of lighter-height stars.
It is also represented by AEW, but perhaps under a different name, there is definitely a cruiserweight style title and division.
In UFC terminology, welterweight classes are defined as toppings at 170 pounds. There are other terms that Tony Khan chooses according to his department’s definition.
This title may provide an opportunity to showcase talent from partner promotions such as NJPW and CMLL. There’s no need to defend consistently, but watching the defense from time to time when the story fits is fun.
