Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff released a video last week, teasing upcoming projects in the style of NWO promotions, and later announced the unveiling ceremony of the actual American Freestyle Wrestling League with their third member, freestyle wrestling coach Izzy Martinez. Several figures in the wrestling industry have since been responding to the news, with John’s “Bradshaw” Rayfield now adding his voice to the debate.
“Holy s**t,” Jbl cried out in the episode “Something wrestles” when he recalled his initial reaction. “Amazing! It’s crazy! That means you have to think about what Hogan did and what Bischoff did.” The veteran then pointed out that Hogan was undoubtedly the biggest drawer of all time, only comparable to Stone Cold Steve Austin or Rock, and that “Hulxter” is the basis of WrestleMania. “He may be one of the biggest parts of wrestling history, or one of the biggest angles. Perhaps he can claim Vince McMahon in the same conversation.”
JBL then pointed out how Bischoff went from announcer to revitalizing WCW in the 90s, making the promotion a viable competitor for WWE. “If you put these two guys back together again, do they have something? It’s huge!” the veteran expressed his opinion. “They have all the connections, they have TV connections, they have name recognition, they have brains. Two great guys. This is amazing! I’m so excited, I wish I was a third party!”
