A new championship match was added to the WWE Backlash 2025 Premium Live event held in St. Louis, Missouri on May 10th.
The show’s cards were five games as of tonight’s May 5th episode of Raw, held in Omaha, Nebraska.
A few weeks ago, at Raw after WrestleMania in Las Vegas, Penta challenged Dominic Mysterio for the newly won InterContinental Championship.
In that match, JD McDonagh Return made him out of injury and helped Mysterio hold in his title.
Penta then recorded a victory against McDonna in tonight’s match at Raw.
Shortly after Penta’s victory, it was announced that Mysterio will defend his title in a rematch with Penta in the WWE Backlash next Saturday.
The show will be headlined by John Cena defending the indisputable WWE Championship against his hometown hero Randy Orton.
It also sets an Intercontinental title match between the women who challenge the US Championship four-way and Becky Lynch and current champion Laila Valkyria as Jacob Fatu defends Drew McIntyre, Damien Priest, La Knight and Pat McAfee vs Gunther.
