Salary issues, behind-the-scenes concerns, and possible returns

Brown Strowman has once again been out of WWE, and the decision has surprised some fans, but the reason behind it has become clear. According to Dave Meltzer, WWE’s decision to release Strowman has been driven by economic considerations, and he believes his current role is being paid more than justified.

This is not the first time Strowman’s salary has worked against him. In 2021, he made $1.2 million a year after signing a lucrative long-term contract. At the time, sources noted that Strowman had made a serious error by not protecting him. “No cut clause” It is likely that he received the position given to the company.

Before WWE finally brought Strowman back in 2022, Ringside News reported that Raw and Smackdown’s writing team were asked if they were interested in his use. The response was clear “I’m not interested” But WWE brought him back anyway after Triple H took over creative control. Fast forward to 2025 and it seems the same emotions have won. Strowman shows the door again.

Strowman’s behind the scenes review also did not help his case. After returning in 2022, WWE sources told Ringside News he was known to him. “I’ll show up late and leave early.” With a few questions “If he’s serious about this run.” These same concerns have been reported, and Meltzer claims that WWE is currently targeting talents that it perceived as “lazy” as part of its cost-cutting measures.

In a recent Q&A session, Bill Apter reported that the door was not completely closed due to Strowman’s return. “I heard that’s not a break of angry reaction. If they call him six months or a year later, ‘We’ll need you for three or four months’ he’ll do it again. The door is open.” Aptor said. However, there is no indication that WWE has plans to revive him.

It’s very surprising if WWE decides to give Strowman a third chance. Most released talents do not receive multiple returns. If WWE reaches out to him, it could be a significantly lower rate than its previous contract.

Strowman’s final WWE match was an episode on April 18th, 2025 smack downwhere he teamed up with La Knight to defeat Jacob Fatu and Solo Sicoa. Now, his 90-day non-competitive clause effectively leaves Strowman’s future in wrestling uncertainty.
