Connecticut Judge Sarah F. Russell has accepted Janel Grant’s amended complaints in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinitis and WWE.

Grant originally filed a lawsuit in January 2024. During her time, she claims that she was sexually assaulted and trafficked by McMahon and Laurinitis, and that WWE was accused of promoting the environment for such actions. In January, Grant filed an amended version of her complaint, urging the defendant to petition the amended complaint to be rejected by the court. Grant’s amended complaints were made with malicious intentions and allegedly resulted in excessive public bias against the defendants by using the civil docket system.

However, Russell refuses these arguments and discovers that Grant has met a threshold to correct her complaints. Russell’s decision does not reflect an assessment of the material facts of Grant’s claim and does not address the defendant’s request to move to arbitration.

“I’m not sure the fix is being provided maliciously,” Russell said on the order. “It is certainly clear that some of Grant’s proposed amendments include facts she knew or should have known when she submitted it. [initial] Complaint. However, her newly sued facts do not deprive the defendant of their ability to timely assert her claims of being subject to arbitration. Therefore, I refused to discover that her fix was malicious. ”

Judge Russell also stipulates that the discovery will continue.

The defendant has consistently promoted moving the case to arbitration due to the provisions of the original private agreement grant signed with McMahon in January 2022. Grant’s attorneys argue that the terms and contracts were legally void because they were unable to maintain McMahon’s contract. Russell also decided to maintain the discovery process and effectively monitored the defendant’s argument that it was too early to begin the process.

Defendants are expected to file another motion enforcing arbitration by June 13, followed by Grant to file a counter-response response by July 11, and may also submit movement-related findings by June 23.

“We are grateful that Judge Sarah Russell won the facts today and granted the allegation to amend Janel Grant’s complaints against Vince McMahon and WWE,” a Grant representative told Wrestling Inc. when asked to comment. “The revised complaints are essential to understanding the extent of Grant’s abuse and trafficking in McMahon and the extent to which WWE failed her. We look forward to moving forward with Grant’s revised complaints, revealing the truth and taking another step to ensure Grant’s allegations against McMahon and WWE.”

Representatives of the defendant parties have not yet responded when requested for comment.
