Potential spoilers for WWE Backlash Surprise Return

WWE may be planning a big surprise at this Saturday’s backlash PLE in St. Louis, including a top star that fans have never seen before in recent weeks.

That star would be Cody Rhodes. Regarding Rhodes’ return, a source told Pwinsider.com: “We were asked about the possibility that Cody Rhodes might return to the WWE storyline. It makes most sense that Rhodes will appear as a surprise in the backlash this weekend in St. Louis.

Rhodes defended the incontroversial WWE Championship on WrestleMania 41 Night 2 on April 20, 2025, and ultimately lost the title to Cena. That was Rhodes’ final match.

Cena will defend the WWE title against Randy Orton in the main event of the backlash. Rumors suggest that Cena can work with music superstar Travis Scott, and their potential opponent is a bad bunny and is probably affiliated with Rhodes.

The matchup comes from Travis Scott’s interference in John Cena’s WrestleMania 41 victory over Rhodes. Adding fuel to this, Scott is reportedly training with the WWE Whole Famer Booker T, indicating the rapper’s plans for his official in-ring debut.
