Austin Theory has one of the biggest collapses from grace in WWE history

7 Min Read

In this last week’s episode of Raw, Austin Theory He was on the receiver of another beatdown coordinated by his co-ill tag team partner, Grayson Waller. Returning, Sheamus defeated the former promised partner in a short order, which has become a theory trend over the past few months.

We need to study the falls from the grace that Austin theory had in WWE. He was once a much pushed prospect in the company. At the age of 27, he still has good time with early promises, but the money of the former US champion and bank owner seems far from being related.

The collapse of Austin’s theory from the bounty of WWE

From bank winners’ money to tag team losers

  • Austin Theory was a highly promoted outlook in 2022, when Vince McMahon was still in charge of creative work.
  • He won money at the bank that year, but failed to cash in due to the US championship.
  • Theory then acquired the belt and defended it in 2023 at WrestleMania 39 against John Cena.

Two years ago, Austin Theory defeated John Cena in WrestleMania 39, defending the US Championship against one of the title’s biggest custodians. This was a clear indication of intentions from the company that despite the failure of the theory in his miserable bank cash in, he was still a star to watch.

The previous NXT standout had been heavily pushed in 2022, but suffered from strange reservations, including getting Vince McMahon’s golden egg and losing to Pat McCuffy at WrestleMania 38.

Bookings for the Austin theory up and down on the main roster sometimes felt like a test of some sort, allowing his character and performance to withstand the worst of WWE impulses. It’s safe to say he’s not going well for him so far. He appears to have not been featured more than ever, three years after winning money in a bank briefcase.

The Austin Theory was the Vince McMahon Project

Triple H does not see the same possibility in theory

Vince McMahon in the crowd of WWE fans.

  • It is clear that WWE’s previous creative system saw more Triple H in Austin theory than it is now.
  • Vince McMahon was directly associated with theory before he left WWE in 2022.
  • Triple H made the theory a US champion, but booked him primarily in the tag division.

Although Austin’s theory certainly had some difficulties under the previous creative regime, Vince McMahon was clearly seen in him as a future star more than Triple H. McMahon’s usual busy booking meant that the theory was unimmunity to the former boss’s insanity, but it was clear that, in balance, the former was the prospect of being pushed before he resigned from WWE’s creative duties.

As soon as “The Game” took over, Austin theory stood out as a Vince McMahon project, struggling to get the same investment under a new system. One of the first things Triple H decided to do with the character was that he failed to cash in his money in the bank with the midcard title.

Still, the theory was given US title reign, but I really didn’t feel he had guaranteed the place as Paul Lebesque continued to change the rest of WWE’s creative destiny. Since then he has been part of A-Town along with Grayson Waller, and it has provided a variety of results.

On the one hand, the tag team allowed the young stars to embed themselves in the creative system of Triple H, but at this point they were definitely together for a long time. The reign of last year’s WWE Tag Team Championship was the peak of their actions, and now the two should be heading for division.

Babyface turns may help Austin theory

Theory wasn’t a good guy on the main roster

  • Austin Theory and Grayson Waller’s division could promote the former face turn.
  • Theory has always worked as a heel for raw and smackdown.
  • Babyface’s turn may be something he needs to kickstart his career.

One thing that remains to be determined whether Austin’s theory is a long-term outlook for WWE is that he hasn’t had the opportunity to play the role of the face on the main roster yet. He has many qualities that help him become a heel, but theory can do it with a change in its size to move himself.

The continued exploitation of Grayson Waller’s tag team partners will likely inspire Babyface’s turn from Austin theory. The theory continued to bear the brunt of Waller’s tattered attitude last week when Sheamus returned to abuse the former, but the latter remained unharmed.

At some point, Austin Theory needs to stand up to his partner’s shenanigans. That being said, the two have been weakening each other since losing their tag titles last year. Therefore, Triple H may be happy that certain wheels will rotate as they continue to team together.

It feels like a theory, and perhaps at this point, even Grayson Waller is both a secondary concern within WWE, with Jacob Fatu and Bron Breakker as real breakout stars of the current generation. Still, both companies have places that are effective characters who can continue to develop as tandems or preferentially on their own.
