Aew’s partner Matthews revealed details about his injury in a match against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam Australia and when he thought he could return to the ring.

Matthews provided details about his injuries and path to recovery that took place in February in his recent interaction with Chris Van Vriette on “Insights.”

“It’s okay. I rolled it pretty badly. I had it [an] X-ray, MRI. There were no breaks, but there were some kind of partial ligament lacerations and cartilage damage,” he said. [I’m] walk. I’m not running. It’s not jumping. I’m just starting to implement cardio, but it hardens a bit, and you know, we’re working through it. ”

He added that the doctor said he had never seen ankle rolls like he had. Aew Star revealed he immediately knew he was injured during the match against Okada. Matthews said questions crept in shortly after he was injured as to whether he could continue in the ring and finish the match.

“I smashed my jaw in a wrestling match, I’ve been injured before, but it was my first time in the ring [that] It reached me in my head. So, I remember doing things first, and it was really painful, and it really started to sink, and I grabbed me as Okada came to me and whipped me into the corner.

Murphy is happy with his performance in the match despite his injuries. The Australian star didn’t reveal a timeline for his return to the ring, but he hopes it will happen in the coming weeks.
