WWEThe attitude era was when strategic alliances were formed. The main of these was a stable, stable, stable, dark ministry based on the theme of pseudo-witchcraft, led by the Undertaker, who dominated the storyline between 1998 and 1999.
With almost 30 years being removed from the group’s existence now, we need to learn about the gags of “Deadman” glish performers from Deadman, including why certain members were included, the championships won by the faction, and the original ideas behind its high powers.
There were nine members in the Ministry of Darkness
Undertaker was the leader of the group.

Paul Bearer | October 19, 1998 | September 23, 1999 |

Midion | January 11, 1999 | September 23, 1999 |
Internal organs | January 24, 1999 | September 23, 1999 |
Christians | February 1, 1999 | April 12, 1999 |
corner | February 1, 1999 | April 12, 1999 |
Gangrel | February 1, 1999 | April 12, 1999 |
Founded in October 1998 by Undertaker and Manager Paul Bearer, the Ministry of Darkness will have a total of nine members throughout its lifespan, including adding two pre-established alliances to Acolite and Brad. Bradshaw and Faarok joined shortly after the ministry was formed, but several months later, Edge, Christian and Gangrel were added.
Two other members, Mideon and Gus, were both invited and entered the alliance. As Dennis Knight, Midion was taken hostage by Acolite before changing his name, but Vissera – Wrestling as Mabel – was given a new moniker the following night from the Royal Rumble match in 1999.
Undertaker guaranteed additional internal organs
His membership “meaned Takers didn’t have to wrestle the guts.”
- The Ministry of Darkness had a diverse cast.
- Biscera was the heaviest addition to the group.
- His place in the ministry, as the Undertaker hated to take him away.
Given the widespread behind the scenes influence Undertaker had throughout his career, it is not surprising that Taker had the say: ‘Very accurately, who will he alliance with in the Ministry of Darkness?’ One of his choices was the addition of Viscera, which, as Mideon explained during his chat with Monte & The Pharoah, was a surprise to many.
The guts were actually sometimes reckless performers. In the case of the Undertaker, he suffered from a broken bone after robbing the wrong leg from Mabel at the time.
Hina voluntarily left the Ministry of Darkness
They were the only members who would do so
- Hina departed from the stable in April 1999.
- Edge and Gangrel refused to sacrifice Christians.
- They opposed the Undertaker.
During his tenure at the Ministry of Darkness, except for Hina, no members left the group of their own will. Together, Edge, Christians, and Gangrel, rejecting Christian sacrifices, left the Undertaker’s creepy dictatorship just two months after they joined. The Undertaker had requested that Christians do so after they released information to Ken Shamrock about Stephanie McMahon being locked up in the boiler room.
Other disciples of the Undertaker opposed the Ministry of Darkness. When the Fate officially disbanded, Acolite was quietly doing his thing.
Paul Bearer was the Genesis of the Ministry of Darkness
He turned his heels at Kane on Judgement Day in 1998 and became Stable’s Manager
- Paul Bearer turned on Kane on Judgement Day in 1998.
- He rejoins the Undertaker’s side.
- This spurred the birth of the Ministry of Darkness.
The day of judgement in your home’s pay-per-view in October 1998 was headlined by a guest judged by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The match ended without a decisive winner, but was characterized by a prominent moment when Paul’s bearer, along with his storyline brothers, opposed the “Big Red Machine.”
Towards the end of the battle, Bearer attacked Kane with a steel chair, saying, “I reunited with Taker and turned both into heels. This drove the foundations of what would become a ministry of darkness, so that the next night would be the next night of life.
Kane was never considered for the Ministry of Darkness
Undertaker praised his single work at the time
- The Undertaker and Kane are once again separated from their allies.
- They succeeded as brothers of destruction.
- Kane was not thought to be part of the Ministry of Darkness.
The Undertaker and Kane will enjoy countless successes as brothers of destruction, but their alliances were never forged rear Kane reportedly never considered the group’s spots. The Ministry of Darkness. The Undertaker discussed the possibility that Kane would join his six-foot alliance under the podcast.
“The Deadman” and “The Devil’s Favore Demon” held two WWF Tag Team Championships and one WCW belt, and once “Deadman” and “The Devil’s Favore Demon” were Again Off-Again The Team Partners.
The Ministry of Darkness had four championship rulers
Undertaker was an easy WWE champion
Championship | Owned | length |
---|---|---|
WWF Championship | Undertaker | 36th |
WWF European Championship | Midion | 33 days |
WWF Tag Team Championship | Acolite |
The Ministry of Darkness was less successful than the alliances of other Attitude Eras, but this can be left to the shorter lifespan of the group. The ministry, which has been around for 11 months, has won four group championships. This included the Undertaker’s domination as the WWF champion (his third ruler) for 36 days.
Other championships held by the group include two governances: the European Championships held by Mideon over 33 days, and the Tag Team Championships of Acolytes. It lasted for 35 and 15 days, respectively.
The Ministry of Darkness returned in 2004
JBL used group history against the Undertaker
- Gangrel and internal organs revived the Ministry of Darkness in 2004.
- They were “repaid” by JBL to target the Undertaker.
- WWE played all four men’s history together.
It was a short-lived venture, but WWE revived the Darkness Ministry’s name in the fall of 2004. Their return to WWE included a one-off match against the Taker of SmackDown.
This brief reunion in the Attitude Era shows the lonely on-screen reunion of the Ministry of Darkness so far.
Vince McMahon was not the first option for higher powers
Christopher Daniels was one of the names discussed.
- The Ministry of Darkness and the company merged in 1999.
- Vince McMahon was revealed as a higher power in the Alliance.
- But it wasn’t everytime I’m planning on becoming McMahon in that position.
Vince McMahon played a pivotal role in the whole of the existence of darkness. So why was it surprising that he was masked as a higher force in the summer of 1999?
Although several names have been debated throughout history, the most notable report states that Christopher Daniels was under the hood a few years before his career began with TNA. WWE’s current executive director, Bruce Pritchard, discussed plans for Daniels’ role in 2017.
