John Cena retains WWE title against Randy Orton in Backlash after R-Truth interferes

From the Brian Pillman Memorial Show to OVW to WWE, the legacy of Randy Orton and John Cena has been closely intertwined for over 20 years. In the backlash, two wrestling rivals were locked up for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and by the time the sun sets on a day when there was a very high chance of a final match, it was “Invisible 17” that finally won his nearest rival and returned home.

Their final dance began to hesitate. The pair swirled towards each other before Senna reached out to her goodwill. Orton accepted Cena’s invitation for the past. Hesitance gave way to tradition, and as usual the two were locked up, working on each other out of habit, revisiting classic moves such as Orton Stomp. Orton and Cena traded consecutive jaw locks, and the two longtime rivals reflected each other as they never left.

Tradition has been transformed into innovation as Cena attempted to adjust his attitude with Orton, but only to turn Orton back the old-fashioned finisher into RKO. The St. Louis crowd came back to life as the two continued to show their old shades of themselves in the current movement. Orton attempts a panto kick, and Cena dodged the “legendary murderer’s” foot. Cena attempted a punt kick and Orton dodged the champion’s strike but was thrown into the referee. What was supposed to be four counts after RKO was counted as two, and the man moved outwards as hatred spilled out of the ring. After sending Cena to the table, landing two RKOs on the champions, and flattening all officials in the building with RKO out of anger, Orton still couldn’t pin the champions for the recognized three counts.

Their path has returned to the title

The path of the match and the trajectory of their careers ultimately led the title. Orton tried to finish his opponent with a punt kick but was interrupted by R-Truth. Orton answered with an overwhelming RKO, but in the midst of chaos, Cena was able to deal a low blow to Orton. The champion retrieved his WWE Universal Championship title, chasing Gold into Orton’s skull and knocked him out for a three-count. Because St. Louis erupted into the noise – both approval and disapproval, Cena climbed onto the microphone with the top rope, microphone in hand. Cena closes the show by begging St. Louis to “drink” after seeing what the last real champion looked like.
