Becky Lynch revealed why her absence from WWE TV has been over for so long since she took a break last year.
Lynch’s WWE contract appeared at the end of May 2024. At that point, she decided not to re-sign immediately and took a break from work, but the plan was clearly to come back at some point.
The break continued all the way to WrestleMania 41 in April 2025, but reports have been revealed that they had re-signed a few months before the comeback.
Lynch now states that she actually expected her break to be around three months at first, but then she has become busy with other projects.
She also said she could return to the Royal Rumble at the beginning of February 2025, but there was a last-minute skin condition paid for it.
In an interview with Variety, she said:
“I took what I thought would be a three-month holiday when my contract went up over the summer.
“Then something else came up. I was filming Star Trek.
“We talked about Rumble Time (on the way home), but at the last moment I was in skin condition.
“The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed like it made sense, especially if we could get Bailey out of the mix and ruin our dreams. It felt double-checked.”
Last night, Lynch failed to challenge Lila Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at the WWE Backlash, but Lynch attacked Valkyria after the match.
