AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita’s new championship match was confirmed on June 15th, 2025 at Osaka Hall in Japan.
Apart from AEW’s Don Callis family, Takeshita is also the unmatched openweight champion of New Japan Pro-Restling.
After beating Shingotekagi in the unconventional open weight championship at Wrestle Kingdom 19 in January 2025, Takechita is scheduled to return to the ring to face the man who was defeated the following month.
As reported on F4W Online, on June 15th, NJPW Dominion will see him defend the title against Oleg Boltin.
In February, Takechita defeated Volchin to maintain the championship at NJPW, a new beginning in Osaka.
Volchin won in singles against Takechita, secured in the August 2024 NJPW G1 Climax 34-Block B match.
He may never have won an openweight championship, but Boltin is the former openweight six-man tag team champion.
Takeshita’s championship is not the only title, and three other title defenses were also announced for the show.
Yota Tsuji defends the IWGP Global Championship against Gabe Kidd of the War Dogs.
The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will see Hiruki Goto defend Tarkagi Island.
Callum Newman & Great-o-khan of the United Empire defends the IWGP Tag Team Championship with Ishii and Tai Chi-Hi.
According to previous reports, the AEW Star is currently on a one-year contract with NJPW.
As stated in the report, Takeshita could become the “main wrestler” of NJPW if it’s the path he’s trying to pursue.
