Shotzi Blackheart wasted no time returning to the ring after WWE departed.
The former NXT star has been officially confirmed at MLW’s Summer Beast Show at NYC’s Melrose Ballroom on June 26th. After a chilled promotion aired over the weekend during MLW Azteca Lucha, the hype began construction for Shotzi’s arrival, but now it’s official. She’s going to do a splash in Major League Wrestling.
According to Fightful Select, Shotzi is expected to do multiple shows in MLW, and the promotion wants to give him some creative freedom when it comes to matchups. Sources believe this fresh start will help Shotzi redefine her career after WWE chose not to renew her contract.
One match already discussed is Shoko from Shotzi Blackheart vs. Nakajima. Shoko recently became the MLW World Featherweight Champion in April. Sources show that MLW views this as a feud of Bill’s worthy marquees. Given Shotzi’s wild and unpredictable style and Shoko’s championship credentials, this could be a major promotional draw.
Shotzi’s move to MLW is also worth noting how quickly it is happening. Her WWE agreement expired rather than terminated, allowing her to receive reservations without a standard 90-day non-competitive clause. This unique situation means Shotzi will hit the ground running on MLW without legal hang-ups.
Salina de la Renta, who is working to revitalize MLW’s women’s division, is reportedly keen to incorporate more international talent, including TJPW and CMLL stars. With MLW continuing to strengthen its roster with diverse and exciting matches, leading Shotzi to this vision is consistent with this vision.
Shotzi recently expressed a sense of freedom after WWE released it. “To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this, but I feel very free. I feel like this weight is being lifted from me.” With a new chapter currently unfolding in MLW, Shotzi appears to be ready to prove himself once again.
Shotzi Blackheart’s MLW debut could be the shakeup that was waiting for after the WWE exit. With her vision set in the MLW women’s division and potential showdowns against Nakajima Shoko on the horizon, Shotzi’s next chapter is already off to a wild start. Look forward to the green hair brawlers aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
