Physically, the wrestling business poses a risk of injury. Beyond that, “WWE LFG” coach Mickey James is a risk to his livelihood, as he strongly believes there is a lack of job safety.
“Everyone can replace it. The machine continues. These gears continue to crush, with or without you,” James said on “Busted Open Radio.” “It’s the most difficult struggle for anyone in this business. It’s especially your dream and when you want this. You don’t feel safe in that place. You always have a new shiny toy, have this, or it’s not always important whether it works or not. To explain business instability, James spoke about his days in the developmental realm of Ohio Valley Wrestling’s WWE, during which he trained five days a week with other rising talents. In the same time frame, James saw him let go of WWE during the middle of training. In some cases, her peers make their TV debut on WWE’s main roster, but face releases the following month.
In James’s case, she received releases twice from WWE (industry leader), once in 2010, and another WWE in 2021. But James argues that every company, no matter how big or small, shows an overwhelming lack of job safety for in-ring performers.
