It’s a tough time for many former ECW stars as former ECW world champion Sub unexpectedly passed away last weekend at the age of 60. On Monday, “Busted Open Radio” became the place where ECW alumni talked about their happy times with fellow colleagues. So it wasn’t surprising that one of the sub’s biggest rivals, AEW commentator Taz, stopped by to remind him.
Eventually, Taz began to remember the last time he saw a sub in Las Vegas over the weekend of 2023. Taz said the encounter was filled with many laughs between himself and Sub, then there was a particularly special moment between them and some AEW stars, all of which were in common with Taz and Sub.
“We took a picture. It was me, Brian Cage, Hook, Sub,” Taz said. “Ricky Starks was in the building and he couldn’t take a photo. All of the photos were FTW champions. I wanted that photo. But Jack Perry wasn’t an FTW champion, so it was just us. Starks couldn’t do that.
“And he thought it was all great to do that. I thought at the time he hated being an FTW champion in the 90s, but he actually thought it was cool.
