Motor City machine guns Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been in absolute tears since joining WWE last year. However, it appears that Shelley had previously received a contract offer from WWE, and he now explains why he turned it down.
While speaking to Shak Wrestling, Alex Shelley spoke about her previous contact with WWE before signing last year. He noted that WWE offered him a contract before the pandemic.
However, Alex Shelley declined the offer due to the pandemic. He said he wasn’t sure he would sign a wrestling deal because of how unpredictable the entertainment industry at the time. Like many others, he didn’t know what the future had done.
“I presented a WWE deal offer due to the pandemic. The entertainment industry was up and down so it was too scary to sign a wrestling deal. I didn’t know what was going on. There was no one in the world.”
Clearly, Alex Shelley made the right call for his career at the time, but he and Chris Sabin are now genuine WWE superstars who won the WWE Tag Team Championship last year.
Shelley’s decision to delay signing during uncertain times may have been difficult, but it ultimately paved the way for even greater opportunities in WWE. So, you’ll have to wait for the next thing on the Motor City Machine Gun, as it remains a highlight on WWE TV.
