Aew Star Ricochet opened up about his undefeated partnership with EVPS The Young Bucks and paid tribute to wrestling legend Sabu, who recently set out in an outspoken interview on the Battleground Podcast.
The flying superstar, who has been turning his head in AEW with his reinvented persona, spoke enthusiastically about teaming up with the young Bucks, highlighting the natural chemistry that stems from shared history.
“Chemistry is amazing. It goes back many years,” explained Ricochet. “We were each in each other’s battles, so we know each other very well. They are bosses. They are EVPs.
Beyond the political advantage of working with AEW executive talent, Ricochet highlighted their ring capabilities as an important advantage of the partnership.
“They are known for winning. Their track record is known for winning, and whenever you can be a part of it, it’s great,” he added, noting their current unbeaten streak as a team.
Honoring the sub’s legacy
The interview took a more calm turn when discussing the death of a wrestling innovator sub, who died just before the interview took place. Ricochet regrets Sabu’s own high-flying style and how he has a major impact on modern wrestling as a whole.
“He’s one of the original people who saw me doing the craziest thing,” Ricochet said. “It didn’t work at times, but when it worked, man, it was amazing. And he’s definitely going there as one of them who really helped you really innovate the high-flying style you’re looking at today.”
The AEW Star didn’t hesitate to see how Sub’s pioneering work paved his career and many other people in the industry.
“I don’t think that if not for the sub, I’d even think that many of us are doing our job,” he said, “I actually remember pinning a 630 on him.
