Best (and worst) WWE PPV since 1999

19 Min Read

1999 was an interesting year WWE When they continued to rule the WCW in the war on Monday night. But things like Steve Austin and the Undertaker were on the shelves in the fall of 1999, allowing people like Rock and Triple H to step up to the plate in the absence of them. Additionally, Big Show and Chris Jericho were recruited, while Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle also made his WWE debut. There were some quality in regards to the PPV that WWE released in 1999, but some were very unshiny and wasted time.

The WWE Championship changed hands at WWE’s traditional “Big 4” event for the first time in three years, and WWE’s title changed its record 11 times in 1999.

Survivor Series I remember that 1999 was infamous that the whodunnit storyline began when Steve Austin eloped and returned to 2000. Austin’s neck issue resurfaced, and he was also scheduled to challenge Triple H in the WWE Championship in a smash triple threat match featuring Rock. However, Austin couldn’t compete with the big show that would replace him, and the show became the new WWE champion.

While most of the card’s traditional Survivor Series eliminated matches were poor, Chyna and Chris Jericho’s Intercontinental Championship matches were the card’s underrated gem. Kurt Angle made her WWE debut, with Ivory, ruler of the WWE women’s champions losing her team.

Despite the star power of the card WrestleMania 15WWE couldn’t perform an excellent WrestleMania. The show felt like a glorious version of Raw with matches such as the World Tag Team Championship and the Women’s Championship matches of no quality from Wrestlemania.

Bart Gunn’s WWE career ended with a bluffing loss to Butterbean in all boxing matches, with Shane McMahon maintaining the European Championship against the X-PAC and making his in-ring WrestleMania debut. Plus, while hell for Undertaker and Big Boss Man in Cell’s match was boring, Steve Austin regained the WWE Championship from Rock in an excellent main event.

The summer of 1999 became hot in WWE, Full Load It was an amazingly good PPV. It wasn’t a good night to become champions as the InterContinental, Tag Team, European and Hardcore Championships changed hands in the first four matches. Road Dogg and X-Pac secured the rights to the DX name, while Triple H defeated his rival The Rock to become the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship Summer Slam With a strap match.

Steve Austin’s latest chapter and the WWE Championship Undertaker rivalry were the first blood match with a massive regulations. Austin became the only champion to hold the title, and McMahon was banned from competing in WWE TV. Obviously, he resurfaced a few months later.

Shane McMahon and X-PAC rematched at the European Championships, with Shane Omack winning again. Billy Gunn has a big victory over former WWE champion humanity, and Steve Austin has seen Corporate Ministries Triple H and Undertaker in a triple threat match to maintain the WWE Championship despite the stacks against him.

The Undertaker tried to incorporate MMA style into his match against Kenshamrock, but the match turned out to be a monotonous event. Triple H and X-PAC played solid matches, similar to Al Snow’s WWE Hardcore Championship victory over Hardcore Holly.

The WWE Championship match between the Undertaker and X-PAC is nothing special, with the Hardy Boys defeating Edge and Christian to become the No. 1 contender for the World Tag Team Championship. Jeff Jarrett won the InterContinental & European Championship, while Al Snow followed them with Road Dog, taking on commentary duties and regaining the Hardcore Championship from Big Boss Man.

It was fascinating that Shane McMahon and Test’s love either love her or left her battle of Greenwich Street. In the main event, humanity unexpectedly won the third WWE Championship by watching Steve Austin and Triple H in a triple threat match with Jesse “Body” Ventura as a special guest umpire.

Intercontinental champion Jeff Jarrett and WWE women’s champion Debra are scheduled to compete shortly after the incident, both visibly shaking. Moreover, the action in the ring wasn’t the best in the night, and the Undertaker overlooked the defeat of Steve Austin for his third WWE Championship.

The Hardy Boys and Edge & Christian all made stars in the evening games. The actual brothers won the first tag team ladder match. Other notable results include Locke, who beat the British Bulldogs, and the 76-year-old Mula, ending the reign of Ivory’s WWE Women’s Championship. Triple H and Steve Austin’s No Holds Barred Match for the WWE Championship were a great way to shut down a solid PPV.
