AEW commentator Jim Ross has released news on social media and has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

On Thursday, May 15th, Jim Ross confirmed his diagnosis and said he would be undergoing surgery in the coming weeks.

JR wrote:

I was diagnosed with colon cancer this week.

Surgery is scheduled for next week or two weeks.

Thank you for your concerns and support.

JR has successfully treated skin cancer diagnosis in 2021 and has dealt with several different health complications in recent years, including last year’s surgery and wrist surgery.

His latest health update comes in late 2024, and the WWE Hall of Fame inductee said on his Grill JR Podcast that his health has been “significantly improved.”

JR made its final appearance at AEW’s commentary desk, calling the evening opening match between Will Ospreay and Kevin Knight at last month’s AEW Dynasty Pay-Per-view.

Wrestletalk will send JR support and best wishes at this time, and provide the latest information on his condition and surgery as it becomes available.
