Carmella says WWE exit left her “scars” after 12 years of running

Carmella is open about WWE’s departure and reveals that the end of the 12-year run left her feelings behind “Scarred” and “upset.”

Talk to Sports illustration includedformer Smackdown Women’s Champion shared that despite his roles in historic matches like First Women’s Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank, he felt he was overlooked.

“I was upset. I was really upset and I always feel like a girl from work, so I was hurt by how it fell. I did what I was asked.” Carmela said. “I was at work for 12 years and I always did what I asked.”

Carmella has approved a way in which WWE’s tenure ends. “I hurt what happened with it, because it’s not like the chick I’ve stepped in for a few years and then left after doing some things. I’ve been there for a while.” She explained.

Despite her frustration, Carmella is ready to move forward. “I’ve been under that umbrella for a long time, so I’m very excited to explore and see what else is there.” She added.

Looking back at her time at WWE, Carmella believes that her efforts will ultimately be recognized. “I think it will hit me over time. I also think it will clash with fans of the WWE Universe and find out what I contributed to this business and what I gave to this company and what I did.” She said.

Carmella’s WWE exit in early 2025 shocked many people. Despite her long tenure and involvement in key moments like the women’s Royal Rumble and bank money, her contract was not renewed. The decision marked the end of her 12-year company termination and closed the chapters that saw her rise from NXT’s Barrett to former Smackdown women’s champion.
