Cody Rhodes WWE Heels Turn Updates

An update has been revealed on whether WWE has plans for a Cody Roadsheel turn following recent comments by Locke.

When Lock returned in an attempt to persuade him to “sell his soul” as an on-screen storyline, Locke’s legitimate first creative pitch was for Rhodes to turn his heels and side with him.

That didn’t happen as John Cena turned the heel as part of that storyline instead, and things turned into heels as Rhodes remained babyface.

However, Locke commented that turning Rhodes into the heel would be something that WWE can revisit the line, so it seems he is still keen on the idea.

A new report from Fightful Select offers updates, noting that outside Rock’s own comments and ideas, there are no current plans for Rhodes to turn the heel.

Fightful shows that “people around Rhodes” were opposed to the pitch when they were first raised, as WWE’s powerful gates, merchandise and ticket numbers were as babyface and he was still getting a big babyface response.

As of WrestleMania, WWE had planned for Rhodes as a Babyface for the rest of 2025.

The official WWE website promotes Rhodes on this May 16 episode of SmackDown at the time of this writing, after being away from WrestleMania since WrestleMania’s defeat to John Cena.
