The former WWE star is working on the possibility of signing an AEW agreement and setting terms for such an arrangement.
Matt Cardona, who is currently a successful independent wrestling scene, remembers well in WWE as Zack Ryder.
You may be surprised he hasn’t re-signed WWE yet, but Cardona realizes that it’s not the only route.
Cardona, who was released from the WWE contract in 2020, spoke about the possibility of signing with AEW when he recently appeared in an insight with Chris Van Vliet.
He previously appeared in AEW following his WWE release and also appeared in ROH in 2024.
Speaking about the possibility of signing a deal with AEW, Cardona suggests that he needs to set regulations and see his vision for his role, saying:
“If that makes sense, I don’t want to be anywhere just to be a guy on the roster.
“And we know there is no guarantee in professional wrestling, but we need intentions, as we see you doing this and imagine you are here.
“I don’t want to collect checks. I went there and did that.”
In December 2024, Cardona faced Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship in the final match against rumors he had offered to sign.
Cardona will tell Van Vriette that despite the reports, he did not actually offer a contract.
Cardona’s real-life wife, Chelsea Green, recently said she’s “waiting” for the former star to return to WWE.
